The Leadership Menu

Whatever our role, there’s something for everyone on the CHFT Leadership Menu.

As we join the Trust, maybe as an apprentice, we’ll move through our induction, maybe learn more about the digital world of healthcare, and benefit from continuous professional development (CPD). Eventually, we may find ourselves managing and leading other people, and that’s where the Leadership Development Programme comes in.

The programme starts with some launch sessions, to get us thinking about what it is to be a leader, and then there are three core modules - ‘set dishes’ - to complete. These have all been pre-recorded so that we can learn in an environment and at a time that works best for us.

For those of us in nursing leadership; leading allied health professional colleagues; or who are consultant colleagues; there are some ‘specials’ on the menu. These additional, bespoke modules focus specifically on the skills we need to lead a clinical team. There are also Operational Masterclasses: sessions open to everyone, with practical tips and advice across a range of operational issues.

The programme is underpinned by discussion groups, action learning sets, book clubs and coaching.

One Culture of Care

One culture of care is about caring for each other in the same way we care for our patients.

That means that it is as important for us to look after ourselves and be kind and compassionate to our colleagues as it is to provide compassionate care to our patients. It also means a commitment to developing ourselves and others, so that we can all be the best version of ourselves and ultimately, deliver the best, compassionate care for our patients.
