What is it?

This is about spreading the word. It’s about helping everyone to understand that we take equality, diversity and inclusion seriously at CHFT. It’s about promoting positive stories and best practice.

How will this look?

We’ll help potential new recruits understand that their diversity will be welcomed at CHFT by being explicit about this in our job adverts. We’ll promote good news stories about diversity and inclusion by working closely with our communications colleagues. We’ll make sure we have a good balance of submissions to consider for Clinical Excellence Awards by talking to our female consultants and encouraging more of them to apply.

At CHFT we are one team with many nationalities.  Our colleagues are from diverse backgrounds with different religious beliefs.

Communities retain, pass down, celebrate, and share their unique cultural ways of life, languages, art, traditions, and behaviours.  Take a look at the Faith Chart for further information.

You can also find key information on the intranet about cultural events throughout the year. Here you’ll find some interesting facts and guidance for colleagues all about the holy month of Ramadan for our Muslim colleagues.

In addition, NHS England have shared guidance on how we can support fasting colleagues with workplace adjustments.

Ramadan is due to begin on Monday 12 April and last for 29 – 30 days and ends with the celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr, which is likely to be on Wednesday 12 May.
